Fawkham, Dartford, Kent DA3 8NG
Brands Hatch is situated south-east of London, near Farningham, Kent, on the London–Maidstone Road between A20 and M20, and 3 miles from the M25 Swanley Interchange. Postcode for GPS: DA3 8NG
Brands can be operated as a shorter (Indy) circuit of 1.2 miles, or a longer (Grand Prix) circuit of 2.3 miles. The GP circuit is less often used for race meetings or track
days, the majority of the events here take place on the
smaller Indy circuit.
Set in a natural bowl, the circuit undulates rather like a
large roller coaster - but once you get into rhythm you're
unlikely to need a gear other than third or fourth. A combination of dips, hills, cambers and challenging corners making it a great circuit.
Hotels: Thistle Hotel, Holiday Inn or Premier Inn Gravesend

Unfortunately the day started late due to fog, but there was still more than enough time left to play as after the first hour or so an open pit lane was introduced. Paddock Hill Bend is pretty awesome - with a virtually blind approach after the long fast straight, turning into Paddock is like dropping off the edge of the world. The corner drops away sharply and you just glide the car around the next bend (if you get it right :o) After that its a fast straight bit up the hill into Druids, a 180 bend with not a lot of grip in the damp - this is not the place to practice hard and late braking as I discovered when I found myself heading straight into the gravel pit - highly embarrassing! For accomodation, the Thistle hotel is located at the circuit, and is highly recommended. More photo's: |
