Cough Suppressant Tea
Be careful not to boil the tea. It will give you a cleaner flavor and be more nutrient-rich.

Here's why you should be drinking Brad's cough-suppressant tea.
It Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Turmeric and oregano are both known for their anti-inflammatory properties, so combining the two will soothe sore and scratchy throats.
It's Packed with Vitamin C
Fresh lemon and lime juice add a powerful dose of vitamin C, which will help your immune system kick this cold in the pants and get you geared up to fight off the next one. Linus Pauling would be so proud!
Raw Honey Sweetens the Deal
This tea tastes savory, but a small amount of raw honey keeps it from being too austere. Why use the raw stuff? It's not heat-treated, so the enzymes, antioxidants, and antibacterial properties are kept intact. Of course, this means keeping a careful eye on the tea while it cooks?an accidental boil will kill the good stuff. (One more reason to heat it only to 130 degrees. A boil will turn it brown and muddy-looking.)
It'll Get Things Moving
Black peppercorns add some kick and also stimulate mucus flow. Gross, yeah, but also necessary. The sooner you get that moving out of your system, the sooner you'll feel better.
It's Soothing, Comforting, and Tastes Great
This isn't your average medicinal cure, taken in a shot and choked down. Thanks to a healthy dose of ginger, it actually tastes good. A little almond milk adds body and texture to the tea (as well as, bonus, an immune-system boost). The herbal notes - thyme and oregano - are vegetal and cooling, the black pepper gives it zing, and the citrus brightens it all. Bottoms up!

SERVES 4
1 bunch oregano
1 bunch thyme
1" piece ginger, peeled, grated
1" piece turmeric, peeled, grated
1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
1 small garlic clove, grated
1/4 cup honey, preferably raw
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
3 tablespoons fresh lime or lemon juice
Lightly whack oregano and thyme with a wooden spoon to bruise and release oils. Heat herbs, ginger, turmeric, peppercorns, and 8 cups water in a medium saucepan until an instant-read thermometer registers around 130 -it should be uncomfortably hot to the touch (do not let it boil).
Reduce temperature to low and let mixture steep 6 minutes. Add garlic, honey, almond milk, and citrus juice, stirring to dissolve honey.
Strain into a pitcher or large heatproof container, pushing on the herbs to squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Divide among mugs.
