Maarten van Sten
Maarten van Sten
A very sad announcement..
"Today, 4th of August 2003, the greatest Lotus ambassador in the Netherlands has lost his brave fight against cancer.
Maarten van Sten died at the age of 27 of a disease he didn't deserve.
A big number of these years have been dedicated to the brand he loves and breathed: Lotus.
In the last couple of months, Maarten has been fighting the disease but at the same time, he has made every effort to continue what he started a little more then two years ago: his specialised Lotus workshop.
Fortunately, he could lay his head to rest knowing that the workshop will be continued in the way he started it and with his style..
I have very often asked him if there was anything he would like to be done or like to say to the world. He did leave us a message. It's something which is valid for everyone living in this world:
Do what your heart tells you in your life. Life is too short to postpone all the good things. If you want something and can afford it.. DO IT.. tommorow can be too late!
Although Maarten has always lived with the above in mind, he is a dramatic example of the statement "tommorow can be too late".
Two weeks ago, thé serious Dutch Motoring Magazine AutoVisie published an article about Maarten. Not really about his business, but about the person.
This article has been translated and is available here...Maarten's funeral details will be published as soon as they are available.
It will probably take place on friday or saturday. His last wish was to be brought to his last place of rest in the same style he lived his life. Let's honour Maarten by taking him there with the biggest convoy of Lotusses the Netherlands have ever seen. No ordinary cars allowed! Life is too short for driving an ordinary car, Maarten would say".
