BMWs single middle motor car as a series
vehicle. At the end of the 70s 456 cars had been
built. With a tubular framework, synthetic
chassis and 4 valves motor. A real sports car,
used in the PROCAR racing series. Design by
Giugiaro.
In the late 1970s, Italian manufacturer Lamborghini entered into an agreement with BMW to build a production racing car in sufficient quantity for homologation. The result was sold to the public, from 1978 to 1981, as the BMW M1. It was the only mid-engined BMW to be mass produced.
In 2008, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the M1, BMW presented the M1 Homage Concept http://www.zdistrict.com/2008/05/06/2008-bmw-m1-homage-concept/ (some nice wallpaper and further info here)
